Hi everyone

I have decided that it is time I started doing something to help myself by trying to eat healthily, lose some weight and get fit.

I have been on two DMARDS already (methotrexate didn't work and sulfasalazine made me feel really poorly) and am waiting for what to try next, but I feel I want to do as much as I can to try and help myself.

So, what I plan to do is keep a blog (on this forum) of my progress, and how I feel each week as a result of eating better and getting fit. That way I have to stick to it if you guys all know about it.

My first weigh in is on Sunday Scared but I hope it will be the start of something good!

Thanks
Amy

Good for you Amy. I keep on thinking about it, but never quite get there, so I take my hat off to you and also that you are going to tell us all about it.

Before I was diagnosed with RA I went to Weight Watchers (other slimming clubs are available) and managed to lose two stone because I knew I had to be weighed every week. A brilliant incentive when that chocolate bar was calling.

I will be following your blog and hopefully it will shame me into following suit.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Amy,
Good luck with the new regime, well done you for taking the first step. I have changed my diet quite a bit over the last 12 months and am sure it does make some difference.
Best wishes Zena x.

Good luck Amy, will definitely read your blog. I lost two and a half stone a couple of years ago and have managed to keep it off.

Best wishes Amy. That's good thinking. Eating a healthy diet must be better than an unhealthy one and taking some weight off your joints will help you to feel better. I hope you get your drugs sorted out soon. I've had a few problems getting started on drugs, though seem to be OK right now (fingers crossed). I will definitely follow your blog! x

Well done Amy!

Are you going for a diet group or plan?
I did a Tesco online one for a year using their site you choose your plan and then what you want to eat from it and it just drops the ingredients in the shopping basket! All online
My mum did really well on slimming world- its very encouraging to do the grp and is easy to follow.

Looking after you is so important and I think the tiniest bit of personal control you can take is good for you personally dealing with the disease.
